Kirin ran out the door and to the carriage. Unfortunatly, she had to wait for Gabriel to lift her up because she was too short to get up there by herself. She made an angery face at Gabriel when he finally got to her.
He sighed and lifted the little one into the carriage. Make sure she was all the way in and sitting down, he went in and sat next to her.
"Hey." Kirin waved franticly at Silpphire. "Your prince sounds dreamy. I wonder if he'll want to be friends." She pondered slightly half smiling and looking up with her eyes.
"Kirin." Gabriel said softly as he put his hand on her head. She changed the look on her face to the "what do you want" look. "I know you are excited, however, could you just calm down a little. I do not want you falling asleep at the party because you wasted your energy flailing in the carriage."
Kirin nodded her head. "So, save my energy until we get to the party?"
"Yes." he replied, fixing a clip in her hair that had fallen out of place.

“Yes he’s totally dreamy!” Kirin’s innocent comment sent Silpphire into anther speech about Nenshib’s greatness while Pyromage nodded the entire time. “I’m sure he would love to be friends.”
Pyromage suddenly paused in his nodding and looked thoughtful. “What about me? Am I not knightly enough yet?”
“What’s wrong?” Silpphire asked at hearing Pyromage’s sudden complaint.
“Am I not knightly enough to have people ask to be my friend” Pyro half whined. He was really childish sometimes, he also seemed to be a bit hyper as if he couldn’t sit still.
Silpphire blinked. “Kirin will you be Pyro’s friend too so he doesn’t feel unknigthly? And Pyro sit still.”
“I can’t” Pyromage replied in a childish whining voice.
“Please don’t tell me you have to go to the bathroom because we’re not turning back and being late” Silpphire firmly said, she wanted tonight to be perfect and lateness could ruin that perfection.
“No, it’s not that, it’s just that I haven’t used fire in a while and all the energy is all bottled up” Pyromage said.
“Keep the fire in the bottled until the end of the ball” Silpphire replied.

Sydra and Armana were silent as the carriage went along its way. There wasn't much to say, and even if Armana had spoken, it would be to ask Syd to keep his thoughts less angry and suspicious. He had one theory after another, at first it amused her, now it seemed boring.
Sometimes, Syd would forget to keep a more mindful watch on his thoughts. In which case, he would end up looking at Armana almost bewildered when she'd ask him to keep it down. As he was sure he had only been thinking and not ranting. Then, like a ton of bricks, it'd hit him. 'Oh right. Psychic.' he'd remember. Armana would giggle and shake her head. Even after so many years, Sydra would let it slip his mind that she could read it.
"I'm sure things will be fine." Armana voiced, half to Sydra, half to Silpphire. "We can put Pyro's energy into dancing."

“Right, we need to stay positive, tonight will be perfect!” Silpphire said.
“Dancing, right, I hope I remember everything” Pyromage said, he tried to sit still but occasionally moved a little.
“I want to dance with Nenshib” Silpphire was soon off in another daydream dancing with the handsome prince and not stepping on his feet.
“Are we there yet?” Pyromage asked.
“I don’t know but it shouldn’t take too long” Silpphire said.
A moment of silence passed until Pyromage repeated his question. “Now are we there?”
“The carriage is still moving but I’m sure we’re very close.” Silpphire answered. The next time Pyromage opened his mouth she replied before he had a chance to ask. “No Pyro we’re not” she paused as the carriage stopped. “I guess we are.”

Sabbat, remaining quiet the whole ride, had gotten a queasy feeling as soon as the carriage stopped. He blinked his eyes to look out of the window, and immediately saw something that that made his heart stop. The witch, in all her powerful glory was standing outside his window, beckoning him with a cruel, twisted hand. Sabbat leapt out of the window, rapiers drawn, ready to slash into something, anything. As he got to her, he felt a sharp pain in his head and immediately woke up.
Sabbat, now awake, was standing in the carriage, to his dismay. Everyone was staring at him as he looked around. He still felt the sharp pain in his hand but was afraid to look. Pyromage glanced up at him scared-looking, while Sydra looked on in disgust. Sabbat, having awoken from a particularly bad nightmare had his fist firmly planted through the carriage’s rear wall. The wood splintered around his knuckles, and had given way like popsicle sticks.
“I…” Sabbat began, but found no words to finish. He was completely alone at that point an embarrassed. “Wh…” he tried again, but no words came from his mouth. The rapier, hung long in his right hand was through the side of the wagon, and in his left, clutching it so hard still that his knuckles were white. He tried to speak once again, but no words came out. His mind screamed at him ‘WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR, YOU IDIOT?’ But Sabbat had no answer, even though he knew that it had just been a dream. All expression dropped from Sabbat’s face except for fear, as he looked around him. Suddenly, he was alone again. He was isolated.
He finally let the rapier in his left hand go, dropping it noisily to the floor. “I’m… I’m sorry.” Was all he could get out. He took his seat, and hid his head, out the window again, so find that they really were stopped.
‘it was a dream…’ was the only thing that could play in his mind. ‘it was a dream. Why did I do that… it was a dream.’ He still felt the eyes drilling him as it repeated. ‘it was a dream, I’m sorry.’ But his mouth was dry and closed.

“Are you sure you didn’t get possessed by the malevolent spirit of the lastly overcome formidable clash against our vengeful foe?” Pyromage asked.
“It’s from that book you were reading before” Silpphire recognized the quote.
“Yes, it was tragic for the knight to have to fight his comrade after he was possessed by the enemy’s spirit and even more tragic because I accidentally burned the book before I got to finish it” Pyromage said.
“Sabbat you must calm down, take deep breaths and don’t get nervous, same for you Pyro” Silpphire said.
“I get it, you want everyone to give the prince a good impression. Well you don’t need to worry about me, I’ll be so cool he’ll want to make me a knight right away!” Pyromage said with great determination. He would have never guessed waited them that night at the ball.

First Sydra's conspiracies, then violent reactions, now the screaming. How she was still sitting there was amazing. She was sure she should be clear out of her skin right now. She hadn't been expecting to keep her guards up at all times. Not with friends. Armana took a few deep breaths, but she said nothing.
Sydra kept to himself, feeling his wife jump next to him. 'This will be more difficult, than I thought.' he mulled to himself. He wondered if the outbursts would be frequent and what it woudl come down to if the were.

Sabbat kept quiet, until a man in a very tall hat came and wrenched the door open. The sunlight blasted his eyes, as the cabin had been much darker than before. The atmosphere cleared, and behind the man was a vast castle. The walls were high and white, and there were birds flying high above a cloudless sky. So free and happy, they circled the towers and dove in between them floatingly. Sabbat was the tower. Fixed, or at least he hoped he was fixed. There was nothing there to tell him he was still attached to the ground, and for a minute he felt like he was floating, but as gravity took hold of him, his feet touched the floor, he was on the ground again, and no longer flying.
Sabbat wanted to be a bird, but Sabbat had always been the towers that the birds circled. He was always the one left on the ground. He was alone when he was dumped, he was alone when Fang died, he was alone when he was created. Not born... created. Sabbat had never had anyone, and never would. The realization had slowly been forcing him over the deep end for a long time, but not to his knowledge. He was unaware of how bad this was really getting to him.

Armana's mind shrieked at her. 'Can we go home now?' She didn't have a bad feeling about the ball, she just had let it slip her mind there would be people there. She grimaced, which did not suit her. She then took a deep breath, repeating to herself, "I can do this. The only one stopping me, is me." The mantra was not working. She gave a small hiccup. Oh how her mind would run.
Sydra straightened his jacket once more. He'd already done it three times. Nervous tick. Something he did whenever he had to be at a formal occassion, that stemmed from his father hardly approving of what he wore or did, his father could always find one thing that was wrong or seemed to be disgrace causing. So, as a result, Sydra would check over every detail, every moment he got too; right up to the point the occassion actually happened. Then he'd be fine. That one tick was enough to tip off anyone who knewhim well, that he was nervous. Others would just take him for being very finicky about detail and being proper.

"Listen guys." Sabbat said, finally speaking up. "I'm going to sit this one out." The man with the tall hat moved out of the way as Sabbat hopped down from the carriage and picked up the rapier off of the floor outside. He slipped it back in his belt, but not before missing twice, hitting himself in the leg once, then going to far off to the right. He looked like he was going to be sick. "I'm not feeling so good. I think it'd be best if you all went in without me." Sabbat turned to leave, but not before he got one last good look at the tower. It was him in every essence. Strong, tall, and alone. He didn't want to leave, but the feeling of chasing off his only friends against showed him more horror than anything in his life ever had. He began to walk back down the road, kicking up tiny puffs of dirt behind his feet.
Shortly after, he could not walk anymore, and his legs gave out under him. Sabbat haw his hands begin to bleed, then reappear completely normal. In reality, he was still standing, gazing at his hands with confusion in his eyes. He was still in eye shot of the carriage. Still able to look back on the group of people that still had some, if even a very small amount, of respect for him. However, Sabbat quickly turned to the right and hurled all over the grass next to the road, making sure he got none on his suit.
"What the hell is wrong with me..." he said aloud when he could breathe again. "Why am I going through such weird things." Something caught his attention to the right, but as soon as he looked, it disappeared. He smacked himself in the head angrily and yelled 'Go away!' just low enough so no one from the carriage could hear.

“You’re leaving? But it’ll be fun and Nenshib will be there!” Silpphire said.
‘Should I go help Sabbat with whatever is troubling him or should I go meet the Knight, what would a true knight do? Um... what did that knight in the story do? Oh yeah!’ “Hey Sabbat are you sure you’ll be alright by yourself or do you need help with something?” Pyromage was a little loud which made a few of the passing guards give him odds looks but in his mind they were looking at him with admiration. The palace was a bit heavily guarded Pyro noted, he decided not to give it too much thought and assumed it was always like this, he just didn’t get to see it up close every day.
Plushie didn’t care much about balls or dancing. He was just there because everyone else was there and of course for the food.

“Your highness” the voice was fallowed by knocking on the door of the prince’s chambers.
“They’re here?” Nenshib questioned from inside.
“Yes your highness” the servant replied.
“I’m going” with that said Nenshib dismissed the servant who of course didn’t expect the prince to come out the door when he could teleport and teleport he did.

This must've been the longest day in the history of Armana's life. Even longer than the day she had been married. With all the emotions flying around, she felt like she was going to be sick. The thoughts of Pyro and Sabbat invaded her mind almost as quickly as air rushing into her lungs on a deep inhale.
"Focus on me." Sydra said, taking her hand.
"I'm trying." Armana replied.
"There is no trying." Sydra scolded.
"It's not so easy." Armana added.
"Focus on me." Sydra repeated.
"I'm trying." Armana argued.
"Stop." Sydra stated simply. Armana looked up at Sydra with a lost look in her blue eyes. "Now. Focus on me." Their eyes met and for a moment, Armana felt stable. More than anyone she knew how the wish to be free was. She could relate easily to Sabbat in that manner.
"Sydra," Armana started, "I think, someone should go to Mr. Calico." She looked pleadingly at Syd. "Perhaps for just a moment?"
"The moment, I get a chance." Sydra answered. "Not with so many eyes." He, too noticed the heavy placement of guards. What could so many men be needed for? Sydra would have given back into his conspiracy theories had he not known his wife was already paining over the excess people. "I'm sorry, my love." Sydra said, giving Armana's hand a gentle squeeze. "It must be troublesome for you."
"We all do what we need to." She forced a smile and gave a nod. Perhaps, the festivities would brighten her dimming mood.

Many knight emerged from the main castle doors which were opened wide to the visitors revealing the festive and elegant decorations inside. Then in a flash Nenshin appeared with look worthy of the prince of a fairy tale. That's all it took for Silpphire to throw away what little of her guard she had left and stare at the prince.
Pyromage's thoughts were going a mile a minute with his characteristic hyperness clearly showing as he wondered if, how and when he would become like Nenshib. Then he would remember Sydra's lessons and what Sabbat had told him and that would bring more thoughts, more confusion until he abruptly stopped thinking and his mind seemed to pause for a moment. Among the turmoil of things he remembered, the memory of Armana being an empath returned to him and he tried not to be too much of a burden to be added to the emotion that seemed to irradiate from the castle.
"Welcome" Nenshib said vowing to his guests. The unexpected action caused the knight wearing heavy uncomfortable armor to attempt to the the same filling the air with the clank clank noise of metal. Nenshib seemed to cringe at the noise as he did not dim it worthy of his presence but made it look as if he was simply wishing that everything would go perfectly. "Please come in, we have set up a banquet in your honor and after that the ball will continue for as long as you wish"
Pyro discretely poked Silpphire on the shoulder. "You're totally staring at him with a weird look on your face. It's scary"
Silpphire snapped out of her daydream and decided that she was not going to pretend to be little miss traditional lady after all. "Prince Nenshib after the banquet please dance with me ok?"
"Certainly" The prince replied.
Pyro's jaw nearly hit the floor. She asked him just like that. He was about to say something along the lines of 'Prince Nenshib after you're done dancing please make me a knight' but the words just wouldn't come out. He settle for staring at Silpphire in disbelief as she tried to stop herself from literally jumping with joy.

Armana smiled at Nenshib's acceptance to dance with Silpphire, then stifled a giggle to Pyro's thoughts. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Nenshib certainly seemed to be a very calm man. With the distraction of Nenshib bowing and the knoghts loud clanky armour, Sydra had taken the moment to go fetch Sabbat. Whether he was seen or not, wasn't much concern of his. He was simply filling a request for his beloved.
Armana gave a small bow, "Thank you, Your Highness."
Sydra, once more a Raven flew to Sabbat. He had taken to memorizing the man's heartbeat. One should a problem occur and he needed to be found, two, for his own protection. He circled the sky above Sabbat for a few moments. He was looking for any signs of trouble before landing and changing back.

Pyromage kept wondering what was keeping him from simply ask him Nenshib to make him a knight. 'What if he says no? ...So that's why I can't say it... The thought of being refused the chance to become like the one he admired was something he couldn't stand. Beside he didn't feel quite ready because he was yet to to go on a heroic journey, slay a dragon and save a princess, those were basics for knights.
Nenshib proceeded to greet the remaining guests one by one making sure to appear calm and trusting to them. Manipulating that was a simple as casting a low level temporary hypnotism on himself so that his thoughts would not stray towards his true mission and he didn't reveal himself should there be a psychic in the group or among the guests at the ball. He couldn't be too careful since he only knew of Silpphire and Pyromage's powers.
After the greetings were done and the guests were showered with compliments by the prince, he thanked them for comming and let them to towards towards the 'party room'.

Sabbat, now semi clear-headed, and seemingly less sick, walked back towards the carriage to find it vacated. Promptly, a guard walked up behind him, weapon brandished. Sabbat looked back at him over his shoulder. “You best put that butter knife away punk...” He said, laying a hand on his rapier, “or you’ll be mighty sorry… and mighty dead.”
The spear never came down. “I’ve been ordered not to let anyone in except for the party. Unless you have specific invite, I’m ordered to calmly lead you off of the grounds.”
“I’m on the list for the party if you’ll kindly check.” Sabbat said, removing the hand from his rapier, which was a stupid move on his part. As soon as his hand left the weapon, the guard lunged at him. A sharp blade slipped past Sabbat’s feet as he leapt over the blade, and came down hard on the guard’s head, inverting the helmet, and killing him instantly. “I warned you.” He said as he dragged the carcass into the bushes. “Now you have done gone and screwed things up.” Sabbat finished up, washed the blood off of his hands from a canteen in the carriage, and waltzed right on up to the castle, to which Armana and Sydra were just seen exiting the main lobby. Sabbat scooted in behind them, and said “Hi.” As if nothing had happened before. “I changed my mind. I feel a lot better now.”
In truth, Sabbat felt no better at all. There was something wrong, and he could smell it. He’d seen that face before, before it dodged into the next door. Nenshib looked very familiar somehow, but he could not put his finger on it.

While they where led to the banquet it seemed that Silpphire was feeling brave and decided to try to make conversation with Nenshib. Pyromage had that 'I want to say something' look in his eyes which lasted until Nenshib finally asked him about it.
"Do you think... do you think it's possible that someday I could be a knight?" Pyro finally asked.
"Of course, I'm sure of it. After the ball I can give you a mission to became a knight if you wish" Nenshib said.
"Prince Nenshib is so nice and wonderful" Silpphire said.
"He sure is! This is great I get to go on a knight mission! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I need to tell everyone!" With his hyperness surfacing again Pyromage ran to tell his friends of what had just happened. "Armana, Sydra, Sabbat, guess what? Guess what? Guess what? I get to go on a knight mission, prince Nenshib will give me a mission after the ball!"
Nenshib was feeling a bit annoyed but the remainder of the light hypnotism he cast on himself prevented his mood from showing and stopped his thought from going near his true mission. All he could do was fallow his plans even if he could not clearly picture their purpose at the time but he would in a few hours. It was a precaution to be taken in addition to well guarded thoughts. Overall things were going well.

Having not found Sabbat, Sydra was back as quickly as he had left. Almost like he hadn't been gone at all. As Sabbat rejoined them he gave a nod. "Welcome back."
The emotions of the palace were a little awkward. Weird enough to make Armana think, or at least ponder if things were always so quiet. She had always ha the vision that the castle would be loud and bustling. It was then that Pyro started announcing that Nenshib would send him on a knight's mission.
A smile raised on her lips, "That's wonderful!"
'Wonderfully suspicious.' Sydra barked in his mind. 'No one in their right mind would send a pup on a knight's mission.'
Armana kept her smile. 'That's why you'll be there to help him.' she said to Syd. While not a fangirl of Nenshib's she was awfully curious about him. She hadn't live in the Sugary Kingdom when she was born. Her family had moved there after she had turned five. From then on she had lived there, at least until she was married and then traveling. And in all those years, she didn't know much about their own prince.
Nenshib always seemed so different every time she caught a glance of him. Now, though, she had to fight herself not to read his powers. It would be easy enough, it wasn't an easy task to spot an empath. And even if you did, there was little you could do to block them from reading your emotions and powers.

"Yes! It'll be great!" Pyromage was happier than he had been in a long time. He was curious to know what his mission would be but that answer would come soon.
After everyone was settled into the banquet room King Aleth began to give a boring welcomeing speech. The entire time Nenshib's adoptive father was overly cheerful yet with an empty look in his eyes, a strange contradiction. Finally Nenshib directed a look at him which was enough to make the king sit down and keep quiet after announcing the begging of the banquet.
Silpphire was absorbed in the task of talking to Nenshib asking him about himself trying to find things they had in common. Pyromage's stomach grumbled because it wasn't being fed fast enough and the fire used proceeded to have a mental conversation with it. 'Dear stomach please cooperate please! I already fed you at lunch and I'm giving you dinner but i can't push the food into my face and almost choke myself with it as I usually do. I have to eat like a gentleman so please be patient and quiet!'
Plushie was actually not making a mess. The cheerful king Aleth allowed the wolf to join them sitting at the end of the long rectangular table and it looked like he was managing to eat without spilling anything out of his plate and into the elegant table cloth.
The candles on the jewel decorated chandeliers provided light as the sun began to sink in the horizon.

The food was nice. It wasn't even close to the beer and hot wings Sabbat dined on almost nightly at the bar. Though he looked professional, he still felt like is old fat self. The sickness he had felt earlier had all but evaporated. Now, all that was left was a quiet happiness as he sunk his teeth into delicious turkey, covered with honey glaze and with a quiet taste of baked goodness in the middle. The best art about it was that there were three hunks of this meat on the table. While Pyromage ate humanely, Sabbat at as he always did... quickly, hungrily, and without regard for whoever else wanted any. However, today, as not to embarrass his fellow journeyers, he was not messy one bit. In fact he even stopped several times to clean his mouth, something he almost never did. However, once he saw the wine... all bets were off.
"Sorry..." he said between bites, "if I'm eating too fast. I havent..." another bite "eaten food this good since my mother was still alive." He picked up the wine and put it to his lips, but stopped, and shot his eyes open wide. He looked to Nenshib who was distracted. Armana, Sabbat called in his head, don't drink the wine... it smells like poppy. Sabbat looked down at the wine. There were little tiny globules of something floating around the cup. He couldn't tell what they were though. He saw Nenshib look over in his direction. "Yaknow what... I changed my mind." Sabbat said, sounding gentlemanly all of a sudden. "I do believe I'm going to give up drinking from now on. My liver is probably ready to fall out anyways!" With this, he tapped Sydra with his foot under the table without changing his expression at all.
Sabbat placed the cup down softly. He was sitting in between Sydra and Pyro, however, they were not cramped together at all. In fact they were very spread out. He snipped the turkey had been just eating. Nothing on that. It was regular food. He reached down to his waist. The blades were still there. Given the first chance, Nenshib was gonna get a piece of Sabbat he'd never forget.
