Snow stood almost plastered in spot. She watched, as she often did and imagined that maybe there were some sort of materia that did it - that got the kid through the space. Of course she couldn't be sure and she probably never would be, but the idea of having to squeeze through the small hole seemed ludicrous at best.
Her eyes widened and she kept her sigh to herself. The only conclusion she could come to was that there was another entrance, there had to be because no man she knew (even the small ones) would fit through it.

"You're a slippery little rat, aren't you?" Hikou asked, pacing back over to where she'd left the others.
The boy spit.
"Ah, and now we've retreated off of first name basis," she cooed to him. "It'll do," she'd decided. The hole was large enough to suit her purpose for now, small though it was, it was the fastest starting point. "A decent ice spell ought to expand it well enough to actually fit through, and we won't have the structural damage of a full-blown explosion."
She frowned, exhausted and out-witted by these new surroundings.

"Stop spitting you stupid brat, it's not like trash like you can get any more gross!" Mikari yelled. It was not rare for her to speak harshly to and about anyone opposing the Turks, or just getting in their way. It was her I wouldn't mind killing you attitude, though more often than not the mean words were rooted to her honest opinions at one point or another.

The boy slowly turned his head to the side and gave a dainty, Phhpppt.
Hikou tried to pretend she didn't think it was hysterical, but there was damage control to be done. She struggled to keep the laughter out of her voice. "Remember, Mikari, we need him alive."

"A live doesn't mean healthy," Mikari gave the kid a little shock on the knee with the electro-rod. She didn't even directly touch him with the metal, but held it close enough for bits of electricity to reach him just a little bit, it would merely tickle anyone who wasn't injured, but he was. "He could be without arms and legs and he would still be alive."

"Mikari, peace." Snow instructed, her hands tugged at the bottom of her own jacket and she cracked her knuckles to relieve stress. "I do not care what happens, I won't pretend otherwise. But, until we get him back he needs to be in preserved condition." Her gray eyes looked at the boy in what might be considered sympathy.
She set her hand on Mikari's shoulder for a moment, "Don't let some brat get the better of you and your temper." In preparation to cast the ice spell on the hole, her hands sent a somewhat icy chill onto Mikari's jacket and shoulder if only to offer a reminder they had bigger priorities than the child. A whispered, almost ghostly "chill" escaped Snow's lips as she turned away from Mikari and Hikou and approached their goal with ice dancing on her finger tips.
The ice cracked and shattered before her and she turned around, "Let me know if you need a second or third." Because frankly she was still high on MP and this place was starting to get to her.

The boy jumped, a low groan echoing from his lips with the effort.
Hikou watched with a passive eye. She supposed, under other circumstances, she probably would've been more protective of the boy, and though Mikari's words were harsh and rash there was a certain ring of truth to them.
All in all, Hikou had decided she trusted the girl not to kill their one prize in all of this trouble, and again bowed over to pay more attention to their escape route.
Carefully, she popped her head outside to investigate.
It was a three foot drop at most to the next nearest ledge--a rather large hunk of rock that had probably once been a rather large hunk of building. Debris were scattered out in a rather large radius around what was left of Shinra HQ, for the most part looking more useful than inconveniencing or incapacitating.
The girl shrugged herself through the opening, crawling forward with her hands on the debris beneath her.
It wouldn't be fun, but it was plausible to think they could skip from rock to rock until they reached the solid ground, that was not that far below.
The girl's legs disappeared through the building, and she took a tiny tumble to all fours. Popping her head back through the other way, she asked, "Can someone scooch him over here?" Again, she was waiting with open arms.

Snow didn't give Mikari a chance and seized the boy by the wrist before "scooching" him over to Hikou.

Hikou took the boy by the shoulders and, as gently as she could manage, edged him out of the gap in the wall. She struggled to tug out his upper body while still remaining close enough to the building to catch his dangling legs, but found she could, in fact, not be in two places at the same time.
And so his healthier, but still heavily injured leg, scraped across the rough terrain at a bit of an awkward angle, and he cried out so loud Hikou nearly dropped him from the shock.
Quickly, she set the boy to the ground next to the opening, far enough from the edge he couldn't wobble off, and far enough from the hole that he wouldn't be in the way of the others.
She couldn't find anything new wrong with him, and assumed she'd just hit a sore spot on the way out. The girl sighed defeatedly, "I never was any good at this rescuing business."

Snow would wait until Mikari was out. While sick of this place she felt more comfortable to lag behind. She felt more comfortable to tail the group in case anything should happen - she was used to "clean up" as she called it. She never realized how much it had programmed itself into her mind unless she was working with others. And then it became horribly apparent she was lazy and like others to do most of the work, or that she had a knack for finding trouble which she would inevitably take care of.

Mikari felt chill and made a pouty face at Snow. "He's asking for it!" It was childish that's true, but usually by then there would be bigger worries than Mikari being childish, such as property damage and half dead brats, the comet was just begging to be used. She was better with materia than she was with hand to hand combat and somehow, materia was a lot easier to aim than a bullet, which would always miss if fired by her.
She wasn't bothered by the boy's cry. He had it coming. "Rescuing? Nah it's more like recovering a fragile piece of cargo and delivering to HQ without breaking it too much."
Mikari nodded at Snow, understanding she wanted to go last, then followed after Hikou.

"Oh, I don't know about that," Hikou thought aloud, eyes scanning over the terrain. It was going to be an adventure getting the kid across. "I can't recall the last time cargo required first aid."
She didn't doubt for a minute that she could haul the extra baggage up and over, but if he were going to be uncooperative Hikou could imagine herself looking even worse for wear, if this were indeed humanly possible.
An array of interesting scenarios presented themselves in her head. She imagined she might tie his bad leg to her own, and let him hobble along beside her like some terrible perversion of a three-legged race. For a moment she considered lugging him across piggyback, but doubted he'd be physically able to hold on that long if he even would have to begin with.
She sighed, staring the boy down, but then, why should she even have bothered. They were outside for now, and that was as good a step towards technological connection as any. Why waste her time dragging prisoners around obstacles when she could have a man do it for her.
Hikou glanced at Mikari without checking her own PHS. If anybody had service, it would be Mikari, for some reason her electronics seemed to work in places Hikou was sure human settlements shouldn't even exist. "You got a signal?"

"I can!" Mikari remembered that occasion. She wondered if her companions were picturing her bandaging a box, or another equally funny image. "I recovered a computer in a very fragile state. The hard drive was so damaged that if the data was erased from the temporary memory memory due to a power loss, it would not be saved on the hard disk and it would be lost. The data transfer hardware was broken and would short circuit if I tried to change it with the computer on, so I had to plug it into an external battery before the external one gave out. Getting that data was tricky and I didn't have enough equipment with me so I had to take it back to Shinra first and keep it alive the entire time."
Mikari checked her PHS. "Just a minute..." She turned it off and on again, because a considerable number of all the problems and situations related to electronics could be solved with that simple action. When the device lit up again, it had the signal that for whatever reason, it did not have before. "Yes, want me to call up HQ?"

Snow came out of the passage to catch Mikari flipping her PHS shut and then open again and mentioning a signal. She stood in a state of dumbfounded awe. "It would save us some trouble." Snow voiced as she knelt down.
Her eyes scanned the area and she tried to imagine how they'd get down and then she tried to imagine it while they had someone extra to carry. "A lot of trouble."

"That doesn't count, Mikari." Hikou's eyes rolled of their own accord. "See if they'll send us a chopper and a stray lab rat," the girl referred to the scientists of the higher offices, "to patch our kid up on the ride."

"Sure it does! Computers always count!" Mikari nodded, certain that she was right.
"Okay I'll call them up." She set the automatic dial and turned on the speaker phone. The sound that indicated the other phone was ringing was heard and after three rings, someone answered.

Snow chose to smile instead of say anything.
"Tseng." came the reply. And if he could have he would have had Reno answer the blasted thing, but because of his standing strain of very bad luck he was forced to try and conduct paper work and answer the phone. Reno was who knows where, but probably with Rude - and the irritation of about fifty other things seeped into his voice as well.

Hikou, driven past her wits and around the block twice by now, nearly opened with Good morning, sunshine, but, thankfully, had the good grace to think things through twice. The mortifying phrase We're stuck, come pick us up, floated across her mind a few times before she decided it sounded too much like a teenager with a broken down car.
But she had to say something, she'd spent a good ten seconds thinking, so she bit out, "It's Hikou. We've found something." There were only so many ways to progress this, but she had to make it sound good. Not like they'd dragged a half-dead body through the debris, and not like they'd crawled through the wrong end of the building, and not like she'd lied about her current state of health so she could get another mission. "We can't progress any further out of the wreckage. We need," help, "alternate transportation."
The girl bit her lip, hoping he wouldn't suggest they just return the way they came.

He wondered what trouble they had gotten themselves into. It was not in their records (or pride) to call for alternate transport. The thought of how they got there in the first place merited a sigh before he spoke.
"Very well then." Tseng replies and he seems almost happy this is quick and simple. "Reno and Rude are on their way." It was as simple as that for him. The call ended and he placed a makeshift order into Reno's hand that simply said: Old Building; Girls; Alternate transport. Because Tseng had fully expected some long drawn out thing and was content to write four words on a paper and pass it on.

Hikou remained silent a full twenty seconds after the line had been disconnected, to reassure herself that she was actually off the hook.
She stared off at the rocks, and then to the boy, then the rocks, then Snow, then the rocks, then Mikari.
Then her feet.
With a heavy sigh she took a seat next to their little prisoner, and announced quite frankly that, "This sucks."
